Kevan Harvey flying |
We had a fantastic turnout of 21 runners tonight, including several first timers and many experienced Harriers who were looking to see where their fitness was in comparison to last year. Not only that but we also had on course support and a photographer in the welcome shape of Martin Howell.
The full results are here. Fastest time of the night went to Kevan Harvey on his first run round the course recording 17:59. He will surely go faster next time now that he knows the course (and if he can avoid crossing a river on the way to the start!). Kevan was closely followed by Ian Tomb, also on his first run round the route (and also having crossed a river on the way to the start) in a time of 18:51, showing great potential already.
Joanne McEvoy built on her success in Inverary at the weekend to set fastest lady's time tonight in an excellent 20:46 which was 5th fastest Harrier overall and almost a minute faster than her best last year. Second fastest lady was Frances Maxwell just starting on the comeback trail from injury in 23:46.

Although there were many who came close to their best time of last year, the only other person besides Joanne to beat last year's time was Charlie McDougall who shaved a second off his 2015 time, finishing in 20:32 and 4th fastest overall.
In addition to Kevan and Ian, other first timers tonight were Sandy Hayden (25:02) and Gordon McInally (24:13) who had also raced last night at the Troon 10k.
Several of the Harriers were also racing last night (Troon 10k or Coatbridge Snowball Race).
You can check all the times from previous years using the menu link on the left of the blog. Thanks to Martin Howell, we have photos of all the Harriers on the course. The full album is here.
Next time trial is on Thursday 2nd June.

Sorry for the quality of the photo's guys - the light was fading and I had to compress them so they would send on email. Nonetheless, it was great fun coming out to see you all and very well done one and all. Martin.
