Four harriers ventured out to coatbridge today to take part in the veteran harriers track 10k
This was certainly a surprising and strange experience being the first time ive raced 25 times round a track (still feeling dizzy) Tempretures were a little down in Coatbridge compared to the day before for the relays and there was a strong breeze between 220m to 300m. Scot Hill, Stuart Waugh and Jim Holmes broke away from myself within the first 100m as expected but within a couple of laps Jim was struggling to hold on to Scot and Stuart and they started to move clear Stuart looking to reverse Saturdays result. Scot was setting the pace with Stuart tucked in behind all the way looking to pounce at the end. While this was going on i was still plodding round lap after lap and trying not to be lapped too often but to no avail althought i did some lapping myself. In the end Scot held off Stuart 40.01 to 40.03 good close race while Jim stayed on the same lap to finish 41.00 although Scot is hoping the official times might give him a couple of seconds off. I eventually crossed the line in 52.37 and hoping the official results will take off about 15mins. Good event well worth all our vets trying as its completly different from a 10k on the road.
