Time to get the spikes out (if you can find them). Our fortnightly cross country sessions commence this Monday 4th October. The aim of this first session is to acclimatise to wearing whatever spikes, trail shoes or old trainers you have in a controlled effort rather than waiting till the first race (West XC Relays on Saturday) to expose your achilles tendons and calf muscles to the extra strain that these low heeled shoes can induce. Thereafter we will be building up the session through the cross-country season to work on speed endurance and running efficiently on a soft surface. If you don't have spikes or trail shoes don't worry, the worst that will happen is that your trainers will get very dirty and you will lose a bit of efficiency.
All should turn up at the club as usual with your normal trainers and your off road shoes. We will run to Brancumhall and I or a volunteer will transport your spikes to Brancumhall in a car.
