SVHC Half Marathon

On a weekend where record temperatures were broken in the south of Britain, many in Scotland were bemoaning the fact that we were being served up with cloud and rain. This did not, however, include the four harriers heading for Clydebank for the Scottish Veteran Harriers half marathon. The drizzle and light wind was more than welcome.

As a handicap race, we were set off individually based on our predicted times which amounted to a 13.1 mile time trial, out and back along a muddy canal path towards Maryhill.
Jim Holmes took advantage of his 4 minute starty over Scot Hill and was first harrier back in 1:31:47. However, Scot posted the fasted harriers time of 1:28:47. Russell Couper was next to cross the line in 2:00:49 and Graham Lindsay finished in 1:39:32.

This was the final race in the SVHC series of races which started last October. Many harriers have taken part this year and some are well placed to lift prizes.
Watch this space.
We can now take a well earned rest from the series before the next one begins… in two weeks time!
