Cross Country Training Starts this Monday

Cross Country training begins this Monday. Please turn up at the club with your normal road shoes and also your choice of off-road shoe (trail, fell or spike). We will run on road to and from the cross country venue (Brancumhall football pitches) and will do repetitions on the grass. The aim of the session is to acclimatise to the different loads that grippy trail shoes or spikes put on your achilles and calves before you tackle a full on cross country race and also to develop the muscular strength that you need to run at speed on a soft surface which does not allow the bounce you get from your tendons, muscles and shoes on a hard, road surface. Believe me, it is good for you and is a foundation of all distance runners training during the winter season. We will do the cross country training every second Monday unless otherwise advised.
