British Masters Cross Country Relays

Following on from our men's M40 and women's F35 team performances (2nd and 4th respectively) in last year's British Masters Cross Country Relay championships at Bathgate, it would do the club's profile no harm to go back and put not only the club name but also Scottish clubs in general onto the results sheet in the 2008 event. This is being held at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire on Saturday 4th October.

I propose that we enter an M40 (6 x 4km) and an F35 (3 x 4km) team, as last year, this giving us the optimum pool of men and lady runners to choose from (note there is no upper age limit for the teams). There are many runners in the club who have improved or maintained an excellent level of performance over the last year and I would hope that this is something to which you would all give serious consideration.

A pool of names for each team has to be entered by 21st September. The only fair way to pick the final teams that would travel south is to take a race as a trial, most likely the Houston Relays as this is only one week before the event. The fastest 6 men and 3 women (plus one reserve for each team) would be selected (assuming they are available).

Please all let me know your availability either via a comment on the blog, by e-mail or just speak to me at the club. We would probably hire a minibus and drive down on the Friday evening, B+B it local to the race, coming back up on Saturday evening.
