August Races

Over the last month the club has taken part in a number of races. The first of which was on the 6th of August, when Stuart Gibson took part in the Dundonald 10k, shortened from 10.5K due to a flooded football pitch at the start. This did not effect Stuart as he finished 2nd in a time of 34:07. Two weeks later, Stuart was racing again, this time in the Irvine 10K, in which he improved his time to run a fantastic PB of 33:45.
On the 23rd of August, Scot Hill made the perilous journey to Rothesay, to compete in the Bute 10K, just one of the events involved in the Bute Highland Games. The strong winds made good times difficult, but he still managed to finish in a time 38:59.
On the same day as the Bute 10K, a number of Harriers turned out for the St. Andrew's Hospice 10K. First Harrier over the line was Stephen Phimister in a superb time of 40:20. It won't be long until he breaks that 40 minute barrier. David Tait was not far behind in 41:34. Next to finish was William Bell, who'll be delighted with his time of 46:19 as will John McBride who ran an excellent 47:30 and not forgetting Richard Lawton who completed the tough course in 50 minutes and 50 seconds.
On the 24th, Kenny Davidson who recenty moved to Peebles, took part in his first race in a Moorfoot Runners vest, the Teviotdale 10K. Windy conditions made running difficult over this two lap course but he ran a time of 39.29, which is a great time for someone who hasn't raced in months.
Well done to all who raced in the last month and good luck to those who will race in months to come.
