Chatelherault World Championships

On Monday 10th June it was our annual Chatelherault World Championships which is part of the Grand Prix series. We had 13 harriers taking part on the night with Frances Ferguson and Eddie Reid doing the timing duties. There is currently a landslip on the path between the start/finish and the first set of stairs. We had a bit of debate about where to start with most harriers hoping it was going to be at the top of the stairs but Eddie was pretty insistent that we set off just after the landslip section and we would finish at the top of the steps instead of running back down them. We were set off in 3 packs with 4 minutes between each pack. It didn't take Jordan Stewart long to catch the middle pack (catching them all after about 4k) and he continued this form to finish first by over 8 minutes in a time of 42:43. Stephen Phimister was next harrier and trying not to race too hard before Thursdays Kirkintilloch 10k finished in 50:52. Julia Pechlof had a fantastic run and left her pack out of sight at the log jam finishing well clear as first female in 52:00. Alison Lessells was next harrier in with a close battle with Jim Mearns finishing in 53:30 and Jim in 53:36. Jason Grant was next harrier in a time of 53:39. Claire McSorley was next in, despite her complaints about being moved up a pack her time showed the reason why, as she finished strongly in 54:42. Tammy Hutchison was next harrier and could have went a bit faster if she knew the route, running well to finish in 57:38. Well done to Gordon McInally who managed to save enough breath to shout directions to Tammy while finishing in 57:52. Kenny Leinster was next harrier home finishing in 60:19, with Richard Lawton running strongly to finish not too far behind in 60:52.David Searil was next with 67:59, followed by Russell Couper with 71:05. Well done everyone who ran and thanks very much to Eddie and Frances for timing. the next Grand Prix race is this Saturday morning at Victoria Parkrun, followed by the final race - the Vertical Mile on Thursday 20th June.
