Richard, thanks for the update. Is it possible for me to avoid the clubhouse altogether and run directly from my house to Auldhouse X and meet my pack there and after the TT run directly home. I usually do it this way for the September TT - avoids me travelling in my car to C'glen whilst also lowering the number of runners around the club.
Hi Martin, thanks for getting in touch about tonight. I do understand what you are saying but the point of the session tonight is to test our new training procedures as opposed to the running and the social interaction. So unless you can come down to the club I suggest you withdraw which is good test of the booking system that it is recording members choosing not to attend. This is a positive test. If you meet tonight running from your house you are missing the meet up, warm up and cool down. This is also good as you have highlighted another way members can join a session so we will update the system when the club goes live.
Okay - I'll enter a withdrawal. So, essentially does that mean that because I have not registered to run the session I can't join the team at Auldhouse. Either way, I'm fine with whatever fits with the procedures and understand T&P protocols.
Martin, specifically for this Auldhouse TT session, the intention is there will be no mingling at Auldhouse. A pack of 2 to 5 runners will arrive, start their individual time trial at 30 second intervals and hence will all be gone from Auldhouse within 30 seconds to 2 minutes of arriving and before any other pack turns up. That pack will regroup at the end and run back as a pack. For normal rep sessions, then it will be possible to arrive straight at the venue. I shall modify the form and tracking system accordingly to allow for that but not for tonight as it will probably break the software without me having time to test it.
If you can register as a withdrawal, that will also help test the automated software for tonight which is useful.

Martin, if you come along and watch fine. Anne will be up at Auldhouse to observe how it goes at the start. So I would rather you not tag along on spec. I appreciate your understanding.
Nothing to do with tonight's protocols but I'm confused by 'club protocol of running to the left when seeing another runner coming towards you'. I have never heard of such a protocol (is it new?) but more importantly this refers to the warm up and the TT route overlapping then it must mean on the road, with no pavement, which flatly contradicts the Highway Code. Were I running on the right of the road towards another runner I would expect him or her to cross to their right-hand side. Unless I've completely misunderstood (far from impossible!) this statement may need a rethink.
Davie, I think all that needs to be said to replace that statement is that if a runner is coming towards you doing their TT, the pack moves 2m out of the "fast" runner's way, whichever side of the road they are on, taking the lead from whoever is in front of the pack and who fist sees the approaching runner. There is no club protocol because all obstacles on a run are generally random, whether it is another runner, a pedestrian, a lamp post or a hole in the road. Therefore, the person or persons in front of the pack, on seeing the possible conflict usually shout out the side the conflict is on (e.g. right!) and raise their hand on that side (if they don't know right from left) and the pack moves the opposite way, taking their lead from the person who shouted. At least this is the way all the fast Calderglen packs I have run in for 30 years have behaved. Can't talk for the other packs.
Its all about common sense in terms of "Don't run into someone and try to maintain at least 2m separation from anyone else not part of your bubble". We are not going to write War and Peace on this, although we already almost have and in terms of programming time setting this system up.
