4 Months of training finally paid off on Sunday when I participated in my first London Marathon and what an experience that was!!!! I felt honoured to receive the club place back in December but over the past few months as the training was increasing I seemed to experience every emotion and had so many ups and downs. Probably the last two weeks were the hardest when I started to doubt myself so much!!
The marathon is easily the hardest thing I’ve ever undertaken and also the most enjoyable and inspirational!! The whole experience was so overwhelming, to think that so many folk came out to line the streets of London to support you, cheering, shouting, ringing bells and many children lining the streets in an attempt to high five the runners as they passed.
If you have ever thought about doing something challenging, something outside your comfort zone, DO IT! Put the effort in and do it, don't let it be next year, or the next year, it is soooo rewarding. I now have a Virgin London Marathon finishers’ medal, and memories that will stay with me forever!!
Thanks to all the harriers for your support and words of encouragement!!

Well done Sandra. Few people could do the training you did through harsh Winter conditions, not having been able to train or race much for some years due to injury and absolutely nail it on the day. This sets you up with a good base of fitness for more races in the year ahead.

Well done Sandra. Glad all your training was rewarded-great achievement. Alison x
After such a difficult few years, you must have doubted if you would ever get back to running injury free and competing. It is to your great credit that you did not take the easy option and give up, but set yourself a target and worked to achieve it . Well done you. Stuart
Ditto all the above Sandra, you've had such a hard time over the last few years it's deeply gratifying to see you back out there and competing. Excellent time and a rewarding return for all your hard work, very well done you.
Thanks x
