The list of Grand Prix races has been updated to the end of the season. See the list here. Please make sure you enter the pre-entry races in plenty of time. Last year we introduced the Victoria Park parkrun as an opportunity to get Grand Prix points and to get pb's or season's bests on this fast course. The format is the same as last year; there are two opportunities to do this 5k on consecutive weekends, however, only the first one you do counts to the Grand Prix. The final new addition is one of our regular Chatelherault sessions which we will do as a race. The season ends with the Vertical Mile.

Alan, an inspired choice for a Chatelherault World Championship race. I like it.
Richard
Is the Chatelherault course easy to follow. My concern is that with this not being an 'organised' race there will be no marshalls and not everybody at the club is familiar with the route and my concern would be getting lost or taking a wrong turn. How busy is this park I.e. Other park users or dog walkers?
Julie
Hi Julie, the course will not be marshalled but on the other hand, the club has been going down there for near enough 20 years fortnightly during the Summer and the majority of club members do participate and do know the route. Yes, there will be dog walkers but probably no more dogs per mile than at the average parkrun. I do not expect everyone to participate in this bit of fun whereas I would expect everyone to have a go at the National XC, but they don't. It's just another optional grand prix event.

Thanks for the reply Alan. I have looked at this Grand Prix race and it is date I am available and with it being a club race I would like to run it but the difference between this and the national is if I decide to run the national I know either the route or that someone will be directing you. My initial query was whether I could follow this route not knowing it. I have been with the club since September 2010 and I have never run it so it would be new to me. I feel with it being a Grand Prix race everyone should be given an equal chance to participate if they choose to run this Grand Prix race. I am not knocking the idea of something different in the Grand Prix but I just want to know if the route is easy to follow.
Julie
Julie, I understand your concern. The course is not easy to follow but there are 3 scheduled Chatelherault sessions before the "race", so opportunities to familiarize. Also, it is a race rather than a time trial so will be "mass" start. As with many such races, I would expect it to be tactical, so if in doubt, stick with a pack and sprint away in the final straight.

Julie, the race is not until the last week in June. I'd be more than happy to meet you before for a jog round if you can't make the 2weekly runs. It seems obvious, but I remember it took me a few runs to get to know it. George
Think I'll do this twice as Alan is setting a new trend!
