St Andrews Hospice 10k - Strathclyde Park

Although a morning race it was still over 20 deg C as Stuart Waugh and Stephen Phimister lined up for the St Andrew's Hospice 10k at Strathclyde Park on Sunday 31st May. Water stations every 2K seemed a bit excessive but both were glad of it as the first station approached. Most will be familiar with the course that takes the outer route round the loch and climbs the hill before dropping back to the water centre. Both Harriers ran together and went through 6K not far off a 40 minute pace. It was then 'only' the out and back along the lochside. At this point the heat took its toll and while Stuart maintained reasonable pace Stephen suffered (made worse by having to run past the ice cream van). In a race where even the winning times were slower than normal Stuart crossed the line in 41:32 and Stephen in 41:43 (chip times). Two top 20 twenty finishes (all the good runners were looking for water in Edinburgh), a cup of tea and a biscuit afterwards and all in support of a worthy cause.

Thanks to Phimi for the race report and well done to both.
