Auldhouse Time Trial

The final Auldhouse 5k time trial of this year was held on Thursday night in blustery and increasingly dark conditions (we must get a club Winter outfit that emphasises the gold part of our club colours rather than the black!). There was a very good turnout of 16 Harriers (plus another 2 or 3 to help with the timing) including several first timers on the Auldhouse circuit. A number of Harriers are competing in this Sunday's Glasgow 10k and Half Marathon so were under instructions to run the 5k as a tempo run at their target 10k or half marathon pace. We will know after Sunday if they followed this instruction or not.

Fastest time of the night was backmarker and first timer Martin Duthie in a time of 17:50 and fastest lady (OK, the only lady this time) was Mary Goldsmith with another great (corrected) time of 22:37. The first timers were Ian Rae (lost in action for many months it seems) 22:14, James Carrigan (only his second week at the club) 22:29 and Ben Ferguson 19:23. Biggest improver was John McBride (23:00) improving by 28 seconds, closely followed by David Dickson (24:02), taking 14 seconds off his previous best. All the times for this and all the previous time trials can be viewed using the link on the menu to the left.

All the best on Sunday to the several Harriers who were just cruising around the 5k course, following instructions and saving themselves for Sunday.

I really have to issue a retraction for that marvellous time you have given me. My time was a more modest 22.37!
