Surprisingly fine conditions greeted the Harriers from the junior age groups upwards at the National Cross Country Relays at Cumbernauld yesterday. A full race report covering all the ages will follow. However it was particularly encouraging to see several of the seniors competing in their first ever cross country race and really enjoying it. The event highlighted that these "championship" events are for all abilities, not just for the elites as is the case in many other sports and this is yet another unique feature of our sport; we can all stand on the line and be running on the same course at the same time as national champions, Olympians and other elite athletes and be inspired by the experience. Everyone of us started off somewhere on the very wide spectrum of running ability and these events have a place for all of us.
Anyway, I have fixed the problem with the web site and the Grand Prix Home link in the menu to the left of the blog will now take you to the web page with the links to the updated league tables for the Harriers' Grand Prix and Club Championship. This is already looking like a competitive season although the leagues only work if we have good levels of participation from many members, so please do sign-up for the grand prix events if you can.
