Alloa Half Marathon

Despite cold, windy conditions both Stephen Reilly and Scot Hill achieved personal bests at today's Alloa Half Marathon. Stephen's time was 1:25:11, an impressive time for a junior and Scot's was 1:25:46, an impressive pb for a Vet! David Searil completed the Harriers' trio with 1:55:17.

Sports Club 40th Anniversary Cricket Tournament

Harriers, we need to put together a team of 6 for a comparitively leisurely afternoon activity to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Sports Club. Please see the message below from the Sports Club President:

"Just putting finishing touches to cricket 6's tournament on Sun 27th April. We have most teams in from sections but nothing from Harriers or Tennis as yet. Please can you let me/Gareth know if you will be entering a team. It should be a fun day with BBQ, music etc so would appreciate if all sections could pull together as part of the clubs 40th birthday celebrations. Some teams are even dressing up, so no holds barred!!"

Please leave a comment if you wish to play or contact Malcolm. It should be fun. Not that we are competitive or anything but....

Principles of Warm Weather Training

Step 1: Warm up

Step 2: Put Some Effort In

Step 3: Cool down

Step 4: Relax!

Best wishes from Stuart Gibson, Alan Derrick and Jimmy Stewart, enjoying 10 days warm weather training on the 2:09 Events/Runners World Training Camp on the Algarve. Stuart has set a new 1-mile pb of 4:45 on the track (10 second improvement) and finished 3rd fastest (28:09) in the 5 mile cross-country handicap. Alan was 4th and first M40 in the race, continuing his trend of setting massive pw's (29:05) and then went on to finish 3rd overall in another massive pw of 17:45 in the Falesia 5k Road Race. However, by this stage we all had at least 60 hard miles of training in the legs. Wish I could say we look forward to coming back but see you all on Monday anyway!

Monday Training in the Snow

We can guarantee that tonights training (3rd March) will be around the golf course in the snow. Therefore please bring your preferred off-road shoes (spikes, trail shoes, fell shoes, etc). Normal trainers will also be fine, progress will just be a little bit slower.
